These videos show the thrill and excitement of our stay in Buenos Aires at the Ayacucho Palace Hotel. They are located at:

Ayacucho 1408 1111 Buenos Aires - Republic of Argentina Phone: Tel/fax: 54 11 4806-1815/0943

They promote themselves as "Lejos del rudio", in English, "Away from the noise"....

This video shows our experience, Lejos del rudio. This one starts out black because it starts in the deepest depth of my sleep at 1 am:

This video shows my conversation with the manager about it:

This video shows another guest's reaction:

They were doing some noisy constructions in the middle of the hotel at 1AM?! You don't have to be in the hotel industry to know that that would cause disaster! You don't have to become a hotel owner to know that you shouldn't order construction to take place at 1 in the morning.

Maybe they should update their literature and website to reflect their atmosphere more clearly:

AYACUCHO PALACE HOTEL ROOM SERVICE
air conditioning, telephone, internet, t.v., hair drier, heating, noisy construction and more.
Opps... better remove internet from the list.

I really hope if you stay at the Ayacucho Palace Hotel in Buenos Aires you have a significantly better experience!

Besides the Noise I am not Happy

These screen shots of the Ayacucho Palace Hotel were taken on Feb 15, 2008, and are the same as when I stayed at their hotel this week. You can click on them to see a full size version.

Their website for "Room Services" clearly lists "internet" as one of the room services. In fact, the only internet they offer is wifi which is available in just the restaurant and lobby. That is a far cry from being a room service.

Now everyone knows you want to keep your credit card information secure. Well, here is the Ayacucho Palace Hotel's online reservation system. You can see that it is not using a secure page. They ask for your cvv2 security code too! Click on the image for a full size view.

This non-secure website takes your credit card information and submits it to <form method="post" action="http://forms.melodysoft.com">.

The help page from melodysoft says: Formato del E-Mail Los E-Mails pueden enviarse en varios formatos, el mas comun es solo texto, ya que asi ocupa mucho menos, pero para darle mejor aspecto se suelen enviar como paginas HTML, aun asi estos E-Mails deben tener su "parte" en texto por si el programa de correo empleado no es capaz de mostrar HTML. Which implies to me that whatever you put in the form will be emailed to the hotel, again an insecure transfer of the information. And after that it will be likely stored in an inbox and/or printed.

Obviously this website has no connection with the Ayacucho Palace Hotel except for presenting the experiences of a guest there... who is still waiting to hear from the manager!
